Subject: Fwd: Judge to Lakin: Find another defense
What can you do? See the article below my comments.
The JAG Corps at the COLONEL level is pretty worthless. A JAG officer of any worth generally leaves the military service before he reaches the level of Major. Once you move beyond Major, you have been identified as one who will do what you are told regardless. The White House has stepped into this case.
In the late 70's I uncovered major fraud/theft in the Congress of the US. After a visit by Tip O'Neill, Speaker of the House, (Democrat) to my headquarters where he spoke with the Commanding General, three stars, and the JAG, Colonel, I was given a direct order to destroy my investigation and not to pursue it further, nor discuss it with anyone. I did as I was ordered, except for one thing they overlooked. Two years later the Congressman was caught and sent to prison.
From my own experience I know that it is not unusual for the White House to intervene in cases such as this. Lakin will probably be released from the Army on a less than honorable discharge. That is my guess as to the final disposition in his case. They may ask him to agree to a gag order; if he refuses, then he goes to prison. His best option is to leave the military and the US and take his practice to a free country where his skills and integrity will be welcomed.
Please forward -- people need to know what is going on.
Bob
