Protracted denial of storm conditions, followed by the population all being released to the roads at once caused this. The storm was going to come anyway and once again the ATL blew it. Now everyone will say we need a plan again and no one will come up with one again, or at least they won't work out when to implement anything they come up with.

...Every Atlanta News Media outlets had been predicting this snow storm, at least three days in advance, but the ball was fumbled anyway. I was caught in the same situation in 1982; Stuck at work, telling the Company to let us off, and finally, when leaving work, it took me 90 minutes to drive a normal 20 minute drive on the back roads & I-75 to arrive home. This is one reason why I always lived close to my places of employment. ....Snow Jam ’82 Atlanta, Georgia Tuesday, January 12, 1982 snowjam82.com/ ...I left work at 4:00 pm, and the snow was falling for about 1 hour. I went down i-75, from the East Point freeway (66) to the Forest Park exit ramp, went through the back roads, and arrived at my home at 7:30 pm. The main problem was the drivers in front of me, they didn't know how to drive in the snow..they kept hitting the brakes, accelerating, braking again, accelerating again, and so forth.
