About His Lopsided Opinions On State Laws and Your Lawful Rights
"County to Address C-TRAN Use, New Gun Laws"
Clayton County Police Chief Jeff Turner said addressing the increased number of C-TRAN riders has been complicated by the fact that in May, Gov. Sonny Perdue signed into law House Bill 89, which greatly expands the rights of registered gun owners to bring guns into restaurants and onto public transit. The bill became effective on July 1.
"I really wish they would have not passed that law," said Turner. "I think it's going to make our job even more trying, because of the propensity of having even more weapons on the streets.
"So many people want to carry a gun for safety, but they don't want to take the time to train how to properly use a handgun, so that presents a higher safety risk," Turner continued. He said he is currently in discussions with C-TRAN officials about having uniformed and plain-clothes officers "sporadically ride C-TRAN for added protection."
"We're not expecting trouble ... but people with guns on the bus can add to our problem," said Turner. "We have to realize that it is here and we have to deal with it."

"Police ride C-Tran, Keep Things Safe, Quiet"
The policy also follows the change in state law allowing concealed guns on buses, with registration. During the arguments about the law, both those for and against concealed weapons on public transit talked about danger on the buses, and the lack of police presence.
Today, the insides of the C-Tran buses bear a list of rules, including the commands not to "carry weapons [except firearms when carrying a valid permit]" and not to "assault the driver."
"Nowadays, with so many people having guns, you just never know," Brown said. "Thankfully, thank God, we have had no major incidents on the bus. This is just part of patrolling ... People are trying to go to work or trying to go home, and if that's you on the bus, would you want to be held up because some people are being stupid?"

Jeff Turner, aka "Chief" of the Clayton County Police Department, uses a broad brush to paint the State Firearm Licensed permit holders with those are nothing but common robbers, murderous thugs, gang bangers, rapists, and known criminals.

About Crime In Our County
Thursday, December 11, 2008
Jeff Turner, Clayton County Police chief, said burglaries in the county are up 29 percent from last year. He said many of the issues are related to the high number of foreclosures in the county, and he believes the county will benefit from more federal funding for crime and foreclosure prevention programs.
"A lot of people are out of jobs. When people get desperate, they do desperate things. When we can do something that makes sure these people buying homes can afford to live in those homes, that will make our county that much better," said Turner. "Collectively, we'll be able to do something about the problems."
For your information Mr. Turner; Not everyone resorts to crime, every time they cross a hump in the road. This county was founded on hardships, and the hard work which goes into the rebuilding from scratch.
Although Jeff Turner does not agree in the Georgia Laws in this county; He is quick to point out the Fear Factor of the among ctizens in the county. Does this remind you someone's else ?
Clayton County 'Under Siege' From Gangs
During the 2-hour session Clayton County Police Chief Jeff Turner admitted they've identified as many as 51 teenage gangs that are active in the South Metro Atlanta County.
Parents were especially singled out for the need to become more active in their children’s lives in an effort to thwart the growing influence of the county’s 51 known gangs with three or more members, according to Turner.
Clayton County Begins Crime Crackdown
Clayton County authorities are using all of their resources to try to take back neighborhoods that are under siege from criminals.
Turner said the initiative will be permanent. He said investigators will move their operations to a different city each week.
This week, police are setting up a temporary headquarters at Rex’s Carl Rhodinzer Recreation Center.
"I feel safer when I can see a patrol car,” said resident Deborah Tyson.
"It feels like you're being protected. You feel more comfortable with them," said resident Florence Gonzalez.
"This is great,” said resident Akilah Williams. “Police care about our community."

What I want know; What's the difference in "Permanent" and "Temporary" ?

I wonder about things got this way; Where criminals siege entire neighborhoods, before Jeff Turner did anything ?
"Clayton Police Fight Crime with TEA"
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Another effort to fight crime taking place in Clayton County Tuesday evening -- they call it Operation TEA Party.
Clayton County police maybe calling it a tea party but they say it's no party for criminals.
It stands for Targeted Enforcement Area. The idea is to swarm the neighborhoods around the county that are hit hardest by crime with police officers.
Police said the program will continue throughout the year. Each week the target will be a different high crime area.

This reminds me about a old Victor Hill rerun called "Operation Jericho".

As more black officers joined the department in the early 1990s, the older officers began retiring, and the racial overtones began to disappear. A shift had taken place, but some black officers believed their was another battle to be fought.
In 1994, three of those officers -- Turner, Greg Porter, who is now an administrative captain, and Victor Hill, who is now the county’s sheriff -- approached the NAACP for help.
